Alsace Fernand Engel
![]() Fernand ENGEL et Fils At the top of First High-class wines Classified thanks to an undeniable quality-price-pleasure ratio. Third generation of wine makers for this winegrowing of 40 ha, on ground very stony red marno-limestone and argilo-limestone, acid and sandy brown grounds, heavy siliceous grounds on gneiss, brown grounds decarbonated on loess and loehms, acid grounds of alluvial origin. Beautiful Gewurztraminer Clos des Anges 2005, rich and suave, with the connotations of flowers and spices, an elegant wine, of very good evolution. Tasty Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergheim 2005, of finely spiced mouth as it must, with small notes of yellow peach and lily, of a beautiful harmony, rich person and all in smoothness. Excellent Silberg Riesling, with aromas of white and ripe fruits, concentrated mouth and a beautiful vinosity but all in freshness, typified well. The Pinot noir is of fleshy mouth, dress ruby, with the concentrated nose (violet and blackcurrant), with melted tannins, persistent in finale. If it remains about it, sink on the Riesling Sélection de Grains Nobles cuvée Amélie 2003, with the honey and apricot notes, really superb, of a great intensity to the nose as in mouth.
